Pay it forward…

One thing that constantly amazes and humbles me is the generosity of fellow  bloggers. For example, Sue Vincent posts one of her amazing photos every week and invites readers to share the writing they inspire. Now, I don’t usually do flash fiction or writing prompts. And I sure don’t write dystopian. But I was looking at Sue’s blog before bed, and when I woke up, “Daddy Forgot Water” was behind my eyelids, already written. I just transcribed…

It was so different from my usual and so out there I didn’t know what to do with it. My sister-in-law is a SciFi writer and she urged me to find an anthology that might take it. Literally the next email I opened was the link to Rachael Ritchey’s blog post calling for submissions to her upcoming anthology. So basically, the universe was whacking me upside the head and shouting, “There, dummy. Send it there!” I feel incredibly fortunate that Rachael (on behalf of the universe) was listening.

And I’m especially delighted to help pay it forward as part of The Crux team because all profits from the book will go to Compassion International, a non-profit organization helping underprivileged and poverty-stricken children around the world. In this season of giving, I hope you’ll give yourself the gift of escape to a world of adventure and fantasy. And your gift will keep on giving to needy children around the world.

The Crux Anthology: Short Stories by 16 International Authors

Come on an adventure! Within these pages you’ll find yourself battling with faeries against evil, waking on an unfamiliar planet, fighting for survival after an apocalypse, having the strangest conversation with aliens half your size, uncovering mysteries, opening doors to other dimensions, and so much more! Edited & Compiled by YA author Rachael Ritchey, these short stories are a compilation of entries to the ASF Short Story Contest by seasoned and new authors across the globe. While style and culture vary widely across these adventures, one thing will stand out: the resilience of the human spirit. Contributions come from:

  • R. J. Rodda (Chosen for the Fox-dance)
  • Joy E. Rancatore (Ealiverel Awakened)
  • Audrey Driscoll (Blue Rose)
  • Angie Thompson (Restore)
  • K. R. Ludlow (The BUSS Stop)
  • E. E. Rawls (Vanished)
  • R. J. Llewellyn (The Paths We Choose)

  • Briar Shea (A Journey with Death)
  • V. P. Grey (Elixir)
  • Deb Whittam (A Mystery Wrapped in a Riddle)

These are all original works contributed by the specific authors with permissions to publish in this anthology. Many of these stories are now either in development for larger works, and the authors would love to hear from you about how much you enjoyed their stories!
