Time well spent! Question: I have been watching reruns of ‘Judging Amy’. I am enjoying it. The writing is tight and covers many difficult topics with honesty and appropriate humour. I saw the name Alex Taub, one of yours?

Not that I know of. Apparently, “Taub” is a somewhat common name.

A Goldilocks tale of the 3 ferries. So fun. I would like to live again so I could try that lovely lunch and of course the ice cream. I think all ice cream should be infused with spirits. 😉 A 10-hour lunch sounds perfect.

Love it!!! I’ve done 5-hour lunches before, but never 10. You always do everything in such grand style, Barb!

I would love a ten hour lunch that includes a ferry trip (or two) and a castle, Barb.

4 ferry trips, 1 restaurant in an old boathouse, 1 smokehouse and shop, 2 medieval castles, and a pod of seals. I’m stunned we fit it all into ten hours!

It was particularly fun having Tim James showing us around, telling us the stories of his childhood playing inside the castle, pointing out medieval loos, talking about the resident ghost, the Green Lady (who, sadly, he admitted he’d never met). He showed us where the “old” chapel had been before the “new” one was built a field over in the 1300s when the castle was enlarged. He pointed to the now roofless building, mentioning that the last three generations of his family buried there were still awaiting headstones. “But we know who they are and where,” he explained. “We have time to get around to headstones.”

Well…of course you’re welcome any time, but I have to confess that everything I mentioned in this post is closing at end of September and won’t open again until spring 2020. Population on our little island goes from 20K+ in summer to only about 3.5K year round, and most restaurants/shops/etc close for winter months. I have to say I almost prefer the winters, with the peaceful and beautifully stark views. (Of course, the four-hour days do get a bit hard to take—hence my Januarys in India.)
