View from the terrace, looking down on an empty city as Florence goes back into full (Red) lockdown.
(And a quick empty look from the heart of the city, and from the river)

True. The light here is amazing. I now get why Michelangelo and Co grabbed blocks of marble when the sun shone on Florence.

Oh wow those images are beautiful. Sorry to hear about the lockdown- cases are rising here too and I think we’ll have another lockdown soon too.

I’m pinning all my hopes on enough people vaccinated to turn the tide of the pandemic. But it’s not happening here yet. Hope things improve there.

Well, the sun is shining on my prison and temps today 75F/24C. And it’s supposed to snow on Arran next week while everything is blooming here. So as prisons go, this one is at least quite warm!

When we were in Florence a few years ago, I couldn’t even see the fountain or sculptures for the press of the crowds. It feels almost post-apocalyptic.

From our terrace, we can see all of Florence spread out. This morning, mists were still around the city while the sunrise turned the Duomo (cathedral) pink. The place is magic.

We’re hoping for travel restrictions to ease by end of June. (We have the car here, plus the dog can’t fly because of her epilepsy.)

The wisteria is amazing. It’s funny how when there are so many tourists around, we wish we had the place to ourselves, but without people, it’s not the same. Enjoy the beauty.
