Hmm, not sure how I feel about edible tattoos but the other photos are gorgeous. We’re getting serious about planning our trip this fall. I’ll email you soon.

The ‘edible’ tattoo was actually not so edible… Maybe when you visit, we’ll skip that.

Wonderful images..I can just see myself lounging on that awesome, beautiful bed sipping my rhubarb concoction with that cool edible tattoo…Love it!

That bed was SERIOUSLY amazing. The blue bed was actually specially commissioned blue silk jacquard which was cut and glued to every piece. EVERY tiny, intricately carved and turned piece. Incredible.

The cocktail looks delish. Did you enjoy the visit to Dumfries House? My cousins are coming from Canada this year and I’m wondering if I should put it on the list of places to see. I’m not particularly keen on stately homes but they like ‘old’ 🙂

Did I enjoy it? Actually the answer is yes. And no. Of course, the entire house and estate is absolutely magnificent and an incredible testament to what can happen when you have both money and taste. But (and this may be just my American showing) the tour was all about a very few very rich people, while I couldn’t help wondering about all the other dozens maybe hundreds of people who supported the estate, who worked there, the artisans who created such magnificence– – the ones who actually crafted and maintained the estate. I would have liked to hear about their lives as well. Or even see some signs that they existed.

The pictures are amazing but I particularly liked your comment about wondering about those people the tours never mention. That’s something I’d do.
