We are delighted to announce the release of our new anthology, The Wife, The Mistress, and the Guinea Pig & Other Stories written by the Isle of Arran u3a Writing Group.

As a writer, I’m always interested in the ways other writers see the world. So when I heard a chapter of u3a (University of the Third Age) had formed on Arran, our little island off the coast of Scotland, I hoped to join a writing group. Instead, I ended up starting one.

While most of our members didn’t bring publication expertise, it was immediately obvious they had something much more valuable: experience. “Write what you know,” writers are told. Well, our group knew a LOT. We brought lifetimes of experiences, memories, and knowledge. We were bursting with stories only we could tell.

As the months passed and we shared, commented, and edited each other’s work, I was stunned by their stories told in their voices.

Write what you know? For our group of writers on the magically beautiful Scottish Isle of Arran, that means combining the things we’ve been, the things we imagine, and the things we know. From that we offer tales about friendship, love, adventure, and the emotional intelligence of guinea pigs. For your FREE copy 28 September – 2 October, go to https://mybook.to/ArranU3A

Our new anthology is available from Amazon Kindle in two formats. For five days only, from 28 September to 2 October 2023, the ebook will be FREE for download. It will also be available in paperback format for £4 ($5.05). To order either version, go to https://mybook.to/ArranU3A. (Copies will also be available at select outlets across Arran.)

Last December, we held a party, and each member of the group received a pin proclaiming them Writer. This anthology gives a taste of the variety, emotion, and confidence they’ve achieved.
If you ask them, they’ll tell you the truth. “I’m a writer.” Truth, like stories, comes in many forms. Here are some of ours.

We would be so grateful if you could share this message with anyone you think might be interested.

Thank you!
