I couldn’t agree more. When I lived in Texas, I refused to mow my lawn and pasture when the bluebonnets and the other wildflowers were in bloom. Too pretty to chop down.

Mowing the pasture helped to keep the prickly pear cactus down and encouraged the grass growth for the cattle.
Mowing the yard? I can’t think of a single good reason.

When we lived in Virginia, our neighborhood backed onto a pasture with cows. Whenever we mowed our grass, the entire herd would come racing up to the fence to get the clippings. I think it was candy to them. Or maybe cocaine.

A chance to get fresh, green grass handed to them? Face it, you were their grass dealer. 😄

I don’t know why anyone would contemplate mowing wild flowers anyway…. who needs flat boring lawns?

I’m with Mark Twain (Letters from the Earth): lawns are God’s little joke on mankind.

Was he the one who called golf “a good walk spoiled”?

Not sure, but it sounds like Twain. If you haven’t read “Letters” you simply must. Your sense of humor – and a quick, hilarious romp of a read.
