All great ideas, Barb. I just love London and could spend hours and hours in museums.

I went there last week with a list of ten exhibitions I really wanted to see. Didn’t make it to half of them, but I still had a wonderful time.

Normally, London is absolute magic. But summer comes as a complete surprise to them every year. Both last year and this one, I saw things that still amaze me. At one of their newest, most modern hospitals, the maternity ward has no air conditioning. Hotels, shops, and public transport haven’t quite made it into the 20th century when it comes to AC or even fans. My sister reported being trapped for hours in an airless departure lounge at Gatwick and then aboard a plane that couldn’t run it’s AC and thus wasn’t allowed to take off (but wouldn’t even open doors so sweltering passengers could get air).
So I felt lucky and absolutely justified in spending time in those lovely cool museums!

Great photographs, Barb.. Miss the British countryside and London itself, but was sick of the politics, prices and traffic! Wonderful for a holiday if you can afford it (Despite all, it still has a magical pull..). Cheers! x

I’m not sure if it was just the heat, but London was empty last week. You’re right about the cost, and all the rest. But…LONDON! You’ve just gotta love it!

Too hot – go to a museum
Raining – go to a museum
Bored – go to a museum
Need ideas – go to a museum
The list could go on and on. Great pictures.

I hope it was cooler inside the museum, Barb. We were surprised when we were in Europe during a heatwave two years ago. I got sick in the heat, and I’m used to it , living in NC. I think it was because the hotels had no A/C – at least here we can get relief inside. So we work outside and come in for relief.
That museum is amazing and I’m glad you had a good time!

They really don’t see any reason to prepare for summer here. It’s not like it comes around every year…

Fabulous photos. The Dior exhibition looks stunning. Fully agree with you on London. We were there just 2 days before the hottest day of the year. Kept cool by having lunch in a crypt! It always surprises me how many green spaces there are in the middle of the city; always a shady oasis nearby.
