2020 Election, absentee, America, humor, I voted, politics, presidential election, register, stickers, still time, USA, vote
I just voted. And I’m devastated…
As an expat with absentee ballot, I was able to vote early. But there’s just something missing about not stepping into a polling booth. Is it waiting in line, reading the signs posted at legal distances, avoiding eye-contact with pollsters? Nope. Is it going down the long list of people running for local offices you’ve never heard of? Not so much. Is it… the sticker? YES! I’m supposed to get an “I voted” sticker so I can vote-shame the slackers who haven’t voted yet.
And the most important news?
There’s still time to register and vote absentee. My fellow American expats, you might not hang your hat between sea to shining sea or have a post code among amber waves of grain, but don’t be forgotten. This year, perhaps more than any other, your voice and your vote are needed!
And it’s SO easy. Register online to vote AND request an absentee ballot (try USvotefoundation.org) and you’ll be registered in minutes. But hurry! There’s not much time left!
Of course, if you’re looking for one of these stickers, you’re on your own…

We can only get it right if the right people vote. (Hopefully, not FOR the right…)

I’ve been trying to register for weeks. They tell me I don’t know my own email address and won’t let me go any further. Attempts at getting assistance are an effort in futility. I could swim back there faster… I haven’t given up, yet, but I am frustrated.

Thanks Barb. I’ve no intention of throwing in the towel. We need everyone’s vote.

I live in the UK and I’m still waiting for my voting papers to arrive from Florida. In 2016 I printed the papers myself, but the instructions for mailing the forms back were horrendously complicated. I decided this time around I would get them mailed to me. Hoping they arrive soon.

I hope so too Tony! If not, you might want to try one of those online registration sites. As a fellow expat, my “home” state is Washington, which has a sophisticated and (so far!) simple process. I can vote online, and submit completed ballot via email. I feel so lucky!

Unfortunately Barb, Florida isn’t as up to date. It’s either vote in person, by snail mail or fax. I don’t have a fax machine these days and it would be costly, but probably no more than mailing these days. It would be great it we could vote online. One day maybe.

You don’t need a fax machine anymore. You can send faxes, online and for free. Check out this article: https://www.pcmag.com/how-to/how-to-send-or-receive-a-fax-online.
And you can also instantly scan printed pages using Adobe Scan, a free app for iPhone or Android phones. I use it ALL the time and it’s really easy. https://acrobat.adobe.com/us/en/mobile/scanner-app.html
I hope you can work things out because your vote is really important. Good luck!

I love your “Dear Conservative” sticker. Years ago, I can’t remember who said that anti-abortion people believe that life begins and conception and ends at birth. After that, they’re not interested.
