It’s official. I have the best neighbors ever!
“Are you home and would you like a fresh blackcurrant scone?” my neighbor messaged. “Blackcurrants grown at the allotment.”
Moments later, I heard my backdoor open. One of my adorable mini-neighbors was holding out a cloth napkin, with two still-warm scones, bursting with homegrown blackcurrants.

Cherry jam from a friend in Michigan, and scones from my neighbors. Other people might have more things, but I’m richer.
(Did I mention they were still warm?)

Nieghbours -A neighbour is identified as someone who is so closely and directly affected by the act that one ought to have them in contemplation as being so affected when directing one’s mind to the acts or omissions in question. From: neighbour principle in A Dictionary of Law – according to that, seems you have the best neighbours you could have, Barb.💝

What an utter delight! When we just moved into the neighborhood, our across the street neighbors would come over with two plates of dinner every once in a while, just to make sure that the young couple (that was us…) would get a good meal :)

Oh no—I’m scone-impaired. What you want to do is share my neighbors’ scones!

I once had a neighbor in the States who told me she had to cut down my hedge separating our lots so she could keep an eye on me and make sure I didn’t allow in any gays or Jews. “Too late,” I told her as I put out my rainbow menorah.

Oh my, you have a wonderful neighbor. I love our neighbors here in our new(er) place – they make living here bearable. Love your response to Cathy. Hope you replaced that hedge with a ten foot fence!

Actually, no hedge. That was in Seattle (motto: “Everybody’s friendly, nobody’s your friend”), so I was pretty excited somebody was even talking to me! As neighboring went, that was kind of a highpoint there…

Neighbours are unique as you cannot choose them , even if you move somewhere after checking the neighbours first, there is no guarantee they won’t move and be replaced by someone awful! It is all a gamble. Mostly we have been really lucky.

I’m having trouble with WordPress at the moment. It recognises I’m signed in and then tells me I’m not when I try to submit a comment. I’ll give this a go!
Just to say, it’s those little unexpected rays of sunshine and kindness that light up the world – and make it a much tastier place. (I love scones – I don’t suppose there are any crumbs left?)
