We were supposed to be auditioning a piano in Crieff, but there was this charming high street…

Full of beautiful shops (Gordon & Durward Confectionery Shop, Crieff)

And stunning art (Strathearn Gallery, Crief)
Of course, all that strolling and admiring works up an appetite.

How could we pass up that lovely dog-friendly restaurant? (There were waffles…)
But then we really were going to look for that piano. Until we saw a little sign for Drummond Castle Gardens, and just had to go…

Down the mile-long tunnel of trees…

Past the castle’s swan-filled lake…

Through the gateway…

Past the castle…

And into the most incredible gardens…

We wandered paths between fountains presided over by naked marble guys…

Through the Woodland Walk with humorous wood sculptures…

Until we found a small hitchhiker waiting for a princess to pucker up.
He was adorable, but I’ve already found my prince, so I stopped kissing toads a long time ago. (Still looking for that piano though…)
Other princesses can apply at Drummond Castle & Gardens, Crieff.

What a fabulous place. It’s a fairytale come true! I love it all, especially your hairy kid. What a pleasant and unexpected tour on Hump Day, and all from the comfort of my recliner!! Thanks for sharing this. I really enjoyed it.

Actually it was a surprise to us as well. I’d heard about Drummond Castle, but didn’t know it was that close. Or that spectacular!

Can’t apply, already found my handsome prince! What a lovely spot. Looks like the dog enjoyed it too.

I was a committed frog-snogger until someone pointed out there was a difference between amphibians, by which time I had a bit of a rep for VLS* and they’d only let me play spin the bottle if I agreed to stay on the inside of the bottle. Fortunately I met someone with chaps on her lips (so enjoyed VLS) and an ambivalent amphibian attitude.

Nice castle.

There’s a lid for every pot. Or at least, chapstick…

It was incredible. And also…I don’t think I can ever let anyone into my own garden again. Ever.

hehehe, that is the trouble with gardens that have paid caretakers.

What a stunner of a walk! Gorgeous – and worth missing the piano stuff. A for the tiny prince – I have one or two much larger ones in my pool every day – they have gotten so used to me, they stop swimming and let me boost them out. But NO kisses.

Definitely no kisses. The world doesn’t need any more princes…
