Scotland was going for LOTS of whisky on Sunday…
Obviously, that calls for a proper Scottish Sunday roast, and the Isle of Arran’s Lagg Hotel (1791) in Kilmory has been serving them for 230 years.
(Come back in ten years. Or 20. Or 50 and see what kind of whisky today’s rain is making!)

What a beautiful hotel!! Food looks scrumptious too. Especially the dessert. How far in advance do we need to make reservations. ;) If we thought about the water that becomes our whiskey, maybe more people would take care of the water.

They have carefully distanced the tables, so reservations are a good idea. And of course I’d be delighted to see you!

Arran distillery’s 10-year is pretty darn good. You won’t be disappointed.

No, seriously. You have to visit here. We have so much rain, but so so many rainbows! (yes, I took that and about a thousand other rainbow pix. They never come out like I hope…)

This gave me a sharp poke into my empty stomach…. what a delightful hotel, wonderful food, brilliant architecture and generally enticing landscape you call your (now) homeland. The only tick I must give you is that you don’t have the temps in C°…. Have the Scots not changed to ‘our’ ways? I lived for 2yrs in Canada and never got around to figure out the conversion of F vs C – I just knew that it was basically always too cold or too hot! ;)

I love that saying, especially if you happen to like the peaty-flavored whisky. I must confess ignorance, though – what is that main dish? It looks amazing, but what is it?

Yorkshire pudding, and extremely well done. (It’s like a puffy, hollow roll that just begs to soak up the gravy and make grown men moan.) Plus roast beef, mashed potatoes, roasted winter veg, and incredible gravy.

Especially Yorkshire men, Barb. Yorkshire men grew up on Yorkshire pudding. Beware the wife who couldn’t make the Yorkshire like their mothers!! LOL. Tradition had Yorkshire pudding and gravy as the starter!!

I’m surprised I didn’t recognize it since I make Yorkshire pudding every time we have a beef roast, but especially for Christmas. Duh!
