Recently I interviewed author Sofia Grey. Her latest book, Lila’s Wolf, is a new release from Hartwood Publishing.
The one with the paradox and the runaways
It’s the classic time travel paradox: you travel back in time and murder your grandfather, so how can you ever be born? The other classic one is to go back in time to meet yourself.
Scientists can tie themselves up in knots over this concept, but authors love it. So much potential!
Remember Back to the Future? Marty McFly inadvertently changed his entire family structure, and then had to change it back again. I love seeing that in a movie, and the challenge Marty faces of putting everything back as it was.
That simple paradox forms the backbone to my time travel series. It’s based on the idea of scholars using time travel to gather information, and research history. One of their fundamental laws is they must not corrupt the timelines. This is why time runaways are treated so harshly when they’re caught.
Most of them take the laws seriously. Lila certainly does.
Which time-related paradoxes have you enjoyed? Tell me in the comments, and you’ll go into the draw for the blog tour giveaway.
Lila’s Wolf (Out of Time #1) is available 4 September 2014, from Hartwood Publishing
Genre: Dark time-travel romantic suspense
When Lila Cammell is abandoned by her time-jump partner, leaving her alone in Britain in the Dark Ages, revenge is the only thing on her mind. She’d trusted Jared Grohl with her life and her heart, and bringing him to justice will be sweet. Finding him captured and enslaved by the Saxons changes all her assumptions. Now it’s a fight for survival, but the only way to save him, might be to leave him behind. The only way to save him, might be to leave him behind
Excerpt
With a speed and accuracy that took me by surprise, Marc pulled the second Saxon into the shallow ditch, sliced across his throat, one hand over his mouth and then tossed the body to the ground. The leading Saxon turned and reached for his own weapon, but it was too late. Marc dispatched him the same as his colleague. Within seconds, two bleeding corpses lay at my feet.
“You. They,” I squeaked, scrambling away from the dead warriors. Marc leaned down and wiped the blade clean on their clothes. Words failed me. I sat back on my heels, fingers pressed to my face, trying to hold onto the contents of my stomach. Ghardians were soldiers but they rarely killed. The risks to the timeline were too great. These men were dead. I shuffled farther away. I stared at Marc as I tried to articulate my question. He pulled me to a standing position before I found my tongue.
“The timeline. You’ve corrupted the timeline.”

About Author
Romance author Sofia Grey spends her days managing projects in the corporate world and her nights hanging out with wolf shifters and alpha males. She devours pretty much anything in the fiction line, but she prefers her romances to be hot, and her heroes to have hidden depths. When writing, she enjoys peeling back the layers to expose her characters’ flaws and always makes them work hard for their happy endings.
Music is interwoven so tightly into my writing that I can’t untangle the two. Either I’m listening to a playlist on my iPod, have music seeping from my laptop speakers, or there’s a song playing in my head – sometimes on auto-repeat.
