This is kind of the signature plantings for our little village of Whiting Bay. Dougie from the Whiting Bay Improvements Committee is touching up all the old boats around the village that have been repurposed as planters. He says that people “adopt” each one and take care of planting and maintaining it each year.

That’s an awesome idea. A great way to give new life to lovely old boats!

Every time the dog and I walk along the beach, I can’t believe I’m lucky enough to live here. It’s not just that the scenery is gorgeous, but the people are genuinely invested in each other and their home. As I said…lucky.

What a fantastic planter! We have had a few individual days of spring here – still cold but things bloom nonetheless!

It’s not the only one! Those fabulous little boats are dotted throughout the village of Whiting Bay here on Arran. Each one is “adopted” and maintained by locals. I really love seeing them too.

I love this idea! They do this on my daughter´s small island off the coast of BC too. Such a great way to recycle an old boat. When it is nice in Scotland, it is sooo nice!!

I want a boat full of plants! 😉 What a happy scene. We had a day of spring too. Then back to winter and then we go straight to summer. It’s so much fun to figure out what to wear each day and I just want to go plant something too. Sigh.
