Home. We’re sick of it.
The world has spent the better part of the past two years in OFF position. Home alone. Or not alone.
But we’re coming back!
We’re not just returning to offices and workplaces. We’re also planning trips to see loved ones, celebrating weddings and life events, scheduling long-overdue holidays. Home might be where the heart is, but it’s also been where we all were stuck for the past year and a half.
Vacation for the win!
ArranSound.com radio is offering you a chance to tell us about your favorite vacation ever, and to win prizes plus a chance to hear your story read on the air.
What is the one thing that will always define the term “vacation” for you?
How about the time everything went fabulously right? Or hilariously wrong? Or completely, epically unforgettable? Share your holiday stories with ArranSound.com radio and win!
The Details:
ArranSound.com radio is sponsoring their first writing competition, and inviting all to submit their stories. Rules are simple:
- Entries should be the length of a short chapter, but certainly no more than 2000 words, and must be your original work.
- Entries can be poems, short stories, memoirs, or essays. (No visual art or graphics because…radio!)
- Humor is encouraged!
- Submissions will be accepted at https://www.arransound.com/writing-competition.html
- All submissions must be received before midnight on 30 June, 2021.
- The fine print: (not much, but you should probably read it.) There is no fee to enter, and authors retain copyrights to their works. Authors give permission for winning entries to be performed on ArranSound.com and shared on this blog, barbtaub.com.
- Winners will be announced on 31 July, 2021.
I’ve agreed to judge the entries, and I can’t wait to start reading! Winning stories will be read on Arran Sound, and finalists will also receive a (paper) copy of my book, Life Begins When The Kids Leave Home And The Dog Dies.
Plus one grand prize winner will receive a brand new Kindle fire7 Tablet.
Upload your entry at: https://www.arransound.com/writing-competition.html

What does a holiday mean to you? The best one you ever took? The best one you never took? Places you’ve missed? Places you always wanted to see? Places you never want to see again? And especially, that one time when…

I’d say this one has Barb’s name all over it! Having read Do Not Wash Hands in Plates, I’ll not be competing – outclassed!

Not a bit! You’re a terrific writer, and just what we’re hoping for. In fact, if we get enough submissions, we may publish as a collection. Wouldn’t you like to be part of that?

(Oh, and… I’m the judge. So I won’t be entering, of course.)
